Fairview Yew

Taxus × media ‘Fairview’ is a compact, evergreen conifer with a dense, upright to broadly pyramidal habit. It is valued for its rich dark green foliage, year-round structure, and exceptional tolerance of pruning, making it one of the best yews for formal hedges and foundation plantings.

The soft, flattened needles remain deep green throughout the year, providing reliable winter color. Like other yews, it bears inconspicuous flowers in spring. Female plants may produce bright red, berry-like arils in autumn if a nearby male plant is present. The fleshy red aril is ornamental, while the seed inside and all other plant parts are toxic.

Taxus × media ‘Fairview’ performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soils. Once established, it tolerates drought, urban pollution, and regular shearing, making it an excellent low-maintenance landscape shrub.
