Taxus X Media ‘Densiformis’

Dense Yew

Taxus × media ‘Densiformis’ is an evergreen conifer with a dense, low, spreading to broadly rounded habit, forming a compact shrub with excellent structure and uniform growth. It is one of the most popular hybrid yews, valued for its dense branching, dark green foliage, and exceptional tolerance to pruning.

The foliage consists of soft, flat, dark green needles arranged along the stems. The dense foliage creates a refined texture and provides year-round evergreen coverage. Female plants may produce bright red fleshy arils in autumn, adding ornamental interest.

Taxus × media ‘Densiformis’ prefers partial shade to full sun and grows best in moist, well-drained soils. It adapts well to a wide range of soil conditions, including clay and urban environments. It tolerates pruning extremely well and is highly resistant to pollution, making it ideal for foundation plantings, low hedges, mass plantings, borders, and formal landscapes.
