Dwarf Japanese Yew

Evergreen conifer with a dense, low-growing, broadly spreading to rounded habit, forming a compact shrub with excellent year-round structure. It is a dwarf selection of Japanese Yew valued for its fine texture, longevity, and exceptional tolerance to pruning and shade.

The foliage consists of soft, flat, dark green needles arranged in two rows along the stems. The glossy foliage remains attractive throughout the year, providing a refined appearance in both formal and natural landscapes. Female plants may produce bright red fleshy arils that add ornamental interest in late summer and autumn.

Taxus cuspidata ‘Nana’ prefers partial shade to full sun and grows best in moist, well-drained soils. It tolerates a wide range of soil types, including clay and urban soils, provided drainage is adequate. Once established, it is moderately drought tolerant and responds exceptionally well to pruning. It is ideal for foundation plantings, low hedges, rock gardens, mass plantings, and shaded landscapes.
