Japanese Yew ‘Capitata’

Evergreen conifer with a dense, upright, narrowly pyramidal to columnar habit, forming a formal and well-structured shrub or small tree. It is a selected form of Japanese Yew valued for its symmetrical shape, dark evergreen foliage, and excellent performance in landscape applications.

The foliage consists of flat, soft, dark green needles arranged along the stems. The needles have a glossy appearance and create a dense, refined texture. Like other yews, it produces bright red fleshy arils on female plants, adding seasonal ornamental interest.

Taxus cuspidata ‘Capitata’ prefers partial shade to full sun and performs best in moist, well-drained soils. It tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including clay and urban environments, and responds well to pruning. It is highly adaptable and is ideal for hedges, formal plantings, foundation landscapes, screens, and specimen use.
