Prunus Maackii

Prunus maackii is a medium-sized deciduous ornamental tree with a broad oval to rounded crown and an elegant branching habit. It is highly valued for its striking coppery-bronze exfoliating bark, abundant spring flowers, and attractive yellow fall foliage, making it a year-round landscape feature.

The foliage emerges bright green in spring, matures to dark green throughout summer, and turns clear yellow in autumn. In late spring, abundant clusters of small, fragrant white flowers cover the branches, attracting bees and other pollinators. The flowers are followed by small black cherries that ripen in late summer and provide an important food source for birds.

Prunus maackii thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soils but adapts well to a variety of soil types. It tolerates cold winters, urban conditions, and moderate drought once established. It is an excellent choice for specimen plantings, parks, streetscapes, and residential landscapes.
