Columnar Scots Pine

Evergreen conifer with a narrow, upright fastigiate habit, forming a tall, columnar to narrowly pyramidal tree. It is a selected form of Scots Pine valued for its vertical structure, toughness, and ability to create strong architectural accents in the landscape.

The foliage consists of short, slightly twisted needles grouped in pairs. The needles are blue-green to medium green and form a relatively open but textured crown. Compared to the species, this selection is more strictly vertical and much narrower in form, making it useful in confined or formal design spaces.

Pinus sylvestris ‘Fastigiata’ prefers full sun and adapts to a wide range of soils, including sandy, rocky, acidic, and poor conditions. It is highly tolerant of cold, wind, drought, and exposed sites. Once established, it requires very little maintenance. It is ideal for vertical accents, windbreak rows, narrow spaces, urban plantings, and formal landscape compositions.
