Pinus Nigra VAR. Austriaca

Austrian Pine

Evergreen conifer with a strong, broad, and dense pyramidal habit when young, gradually becoming more open and irregular with age. It is a robust European pine widely used in landscape plantings for its toughness, adaptability, and strong structural presence.

The foliage consists of long, stiff, dark green needles grouped in pairs. The needles are coarse in texture and held densely along the branches, giving the tree a bold and rugged appearance. Its deep green color remains stable throughout the year, providing strong evergreen contrast in the landscape.

Pinus nigra var. austriaca prefers full sun and adapts to a very wide range of soils, including dry, alkaline, compacted, sandy, and rocky conditions. It is highly tolerant of urban stress, pollution, wind, and drought once established. It is ideal for large landscapes, windbreaks, reforestation, highway plantings, and tough urban environments where reliability is essential.
