Evergreen conifer with a strong upright pyramidal habit, forming a large, symmetrical tree with dense branching and a refined architectural appearance. This blue-foliaged selection of Colorado Blue Spruce is valued for its intense silvery-blue needles and classic spruce form.
The foliage consists of stiff, sharply pointed needles arranged around the branches. The needles display a bright blue to silvery-blue coloration, often becoming more intense in full sun and cooler conditions. The dense branching creates excellent year-round structure and strong winter interest.
Picea pungens ‘Glauca’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil, adapting to sandy, loamy, and rocky soils. It performs best with good air circulation and does not tolerate prolonged wet conditions or severe heat stress. Once established, it shows good drought tolerance, excellent cold tolerance, and good resistance to wind exposure. It is ideal for specimen planting, large landscapes, windbreaks, screens, and formal evergreen designs.
