Microbiota Decussata ‘Celtic Pride’

Celtic Pride Siberian Cypress

Evergreen conifer with a low, spreading habit, forming a dense and uniform groundcover. Compared to the species, ‘Celtic Pride’ is noted for its fuller growth, improved density, and more refined appearance. Its arching branches spread outward in layered sprays, creating a soft, flowing texture that works well in both formal and naturalistic landscapes.

The foliage is composed of small, scale-like leaves arranged in flattened sprays. During the growing season, it displays a rich medium to dark green color. In autumn and winter, the foliage develops attractive bronze to reddish-purple tones, adding seasonal interest. The foliage remains soft to the touch and is less prickly than most creeping junipers.

Microbiota decussata ‘Celtic Pride’ prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It adapts well to sandy, rocky, and moderately fertile soils and performs exceptionally well in cold climates. Once established, it exhibits moderate drought tolerance, outstanding cold hardiness, and excellent resistance to pests and diseases. It is ideal for groundcover plantings, slopes, rock gardens, woodland edges, and erosion control.
