Evergreen conifer with a very narrow, upright columnar habit, forming an extremely refined and architectural vertical accent. Its growth is tight, controlled, and naturally symmetrical, making it one of the more slender selections in the Rocky Mountain juniper group.
The foliage is composed of fine, scale-like leaves. Its color is a bright silvery-blue to soft steel blue, often giving a luminous “silver sheen” effect, especially in full sun and cool conditions.
Juniperus scopulorum ‘Silver Cord’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil, performing best in sandy, rocky, or lean soils. It does not tolerate wet or poorly drained sites. Once established, it shows very high drought tolerance, excellent cold hardiness, and strong resistance to wind and urban conditions. It is ideal for tight vertical accents, narrow hedges, screening in small spaces, and formal architectural plantings.
