Evergreen conifer with a low, spreading to irregular habit, forming a wide, dense shrub. Its branching is often layered and somewhat open, with long, trailing to slightly ascending shoots that create a natural, informal appearance.

The foliage is composed mainly of fine, scale-like leaves, sometimes mixed with juvenile needle-like growth. Its color is a deep green to dark gray-green, maintaining a dense and somewhat coarse texture throughout the year. When crushed, the foliage releases a strong, characteristic odor.

Juniperus sabina prefers full sun and well-drained soil, thriving in poor, sandy, or rocky conditions. It tolerates dry to moderately dry soils and performs well in harsh, exposed environments. Once established, it shows high drought tolerance, good resistance to difficult conditions, and moderate tolerance to pollution and salt. It is well suited for slopes, naturalized plantings, erosion control, and low-maintenance landscapes.
