Amelanchier Laevis ‘Snowcloud’

Snowcloud Allegheny Serviceberry

Amelanchier laevis ‘Snowcloud’ is a deciduous ornamental small tree with an upright oval to broadly rounded habit and graceful branching. This cultivar is prized for its profuse white spring blossoms, edible berries, attractive blue-green foliage, and outstanding orange-red fall color.

The foliage emerges with bronze to coppery tones before maturing to blue-green during summer. In autumn, the leaves develop brilliant shades of orange, red, and scarlet. In early spring, abundant clusters of delicate white flowers appear before or as the foliage emerges. These are followed by sweet, dark purple berries that are enjoyed by birds and can also be eaten fresh or used in jams and pies.

Amelanchier laevis ‘Snowcloud’ performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils. It tolerates clay and urban conditions when drainage is adequate. It is ideal as a specimen tree, in naturalized landscapes, woodland gardens, residential plantings, and four-season landscapes.
