Evergreen conifer with a compact, irregular, and often sculptural habit. It develops into a dense shrub or small tree with twisting, layered branches, giving it a refined and artistic appearance highly valued in ornamental gardening and bonsai.

The foliage is fine-textured, composed mostly of soft, scale-like leaves. Its color ranges from rich green to slightly bluish-green, maintaining a fresh and elegant look throughout the year. In full sun, the color is more vibrant, while in partial shade it deepens slightly.

Juniperus chinensis ‘Shimpaku’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil but tolerates a variety of conditions, including poor, moderately dry to dry, and slightly alkaline soils. Once established, it shows high drought tolerance, good resistance to urban pollution, and moderate tolerance to salt. It is widely used for bonsai, specimen planting, and as a structural accent in refined landscape designs.
