Pinus Mugo ‘Slowmound’

Slowmound Mugo Pine

Evergreen conifer with an extremely compact, low, and dense mounded habit, forming a tight cushion-like shrub that remains very uniform over time. It is one of the slowest-growing dwarf selections of Mugo Pine, highly valued for its miniature size, stability, and clean landscape form.

The foliage consists of short, stiff, dark green needles grouped in pairs. The needles are dense and slightly twisted, creating a fine but rugged texture. The plant maintains a very neat, rounded outline with minimal maintenance and little seasonal change in shape.

Pinus mugo ‘Slowmound’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It thrives in sandy, rocky, and poor soils and is highly tolerant of cold, wind, and exposed conditions. Once established, it shows excellent drought tolerance and very high cold hardiness. It is ideal for rock gardens, trough gardens, miniature landscapes, foundation edges, and tight ornamental compositions.
