Baker Blue Spruce

Evergreen conifer with a dense, broadly pyramidal habit, forming a compact and well-structured tree. It is a selected form of Colorado Blue Spruce valued for its consistent growth, strong branching, and attractive silvery-blue foliage that holds its color well throughout the season.

The foliage consists of stiff, sharply pointed needles arranged densely along the branches. The needles display a rich silvery-blue coloration, often slightly softer and more uniform than some other intensely blue selections. The overall effect is a full, refined, and balanced evergreen presence in the landscape.

Picea pungens ‘Bakeri’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It adapts well to sandy, loamy, and rocky soils but does not tolerate prolonged wet conditions. Once established, it shows moderate drought tolerance, excellent cold tolerance, and good resistance to wind exposure. It is ideal for specimen planting, screens, windbreaks, and larger ornamental landscapes where a reliable blue spruce form is desired.
