Dwarf evergreen conifer with a compact rounded to broadly conical habit, forming a dense, globe-shaped mound when young and eventually developing a wider pyramidal form with age. It is one of the most popular dwarf selections of Colorado Blue Spruce, valued for its intense blue foliage, slow growth, and versatile landscape use.
The foliage consists of stiff, sharply pointed needles arranged densely along the branches. The needles display a striking silvery-blue to steel-blue coloration, with the brightest blue tones appearing on new growth and in full sun. The dense branching creates a refined texture and strong year-round ornamental value.
Picea pungens ‘Glauca Globosa’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It adapts well to sandy, loamy, and rocky soils but does not tolerate prolonged wet conditions. Once established, it shows moderate drought tolerance, excellent cold tolerance, and good resistance to wind exposure. It is ideal for rock gardens, foundation plantings, containers, small landscapes, and as a focal evergreen specimen.
