Dwarf evergreen conifer with a very compact, globose to slightly irregular rounded habit, forming a dense cushion-like mound. It is a slow-growing selection of White Spruce valued for its tight branching, miniature size, and more natural, less perfectly conical form compared to ‘Conica’.
The foliage consists of short, stiff, bright green needles densely arranged along the short shoots. The texture is fine and soft-looking but compact, maintaining a consistent evergreen presence throughout the year.
Picea glauca ‘Jean’s Dilly’ prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It performs best in slightly acidic to neutral soils and does not tolerate prolonged heat, drought, or waterlogged conditions. Once established, it shows excellent cold hardiness but is better suited than ‘Conica’ to slightly warmer or more variable conditions due to its somewhat more flexible growth habit. It is ideal for rock gardens, dwarf conifer collections, containers, small foundation plantings, and ornamental focal points.
