Juniperus Squamata ‘Blue Carpet’

Blue Carpet Juniper

Evergreen conifer with a low, spreading habit, forming a dense, ground-hugging mat. Its branches grow horizontally in a tight, layered pattern, creating a smooth and uniform “carpet” effect that is especially valued for ornamental groundcover use.

The foliage is composed of short, sharp, needle-like leaves arranged densely along the stems, giving it a fine but slightly prickly texture. Its color is a strong silvery-blue to steel blue, one of the most intense blue tones among junipers, remaining vibrant throughout the year.

Juniperus squamata ‘Blue Carpet’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil, performing best in sandy, rocky, or lean soils. It does not tolerate heavy, waterlogged soils. Once established, it shows high drought tolerance, good cold hardiness, and moderate resistance to urban conditions. It is ideal for groundcover, rock gardens, slopes, and decorative mass plantings.
