Juniperus Sabina ‘Calgary Carpet’

Calgary Carpet Savin Juniper

Evergreen conifer with a very low, spreading habit, forming a dense, carpet-like groundcover. Its finely branched, horizontal growth creates a smooth, uniform mat that hugs the ground closely, making it ideal for covering large areas and stabilizing slopes.

The foliage is composed mainly of fine, scale-like leaves, occasionally mixed with juvenile needle-like growth. Its color is a rich green to blue-green, maintaining an attractive appearance throughout the year. During winter, it may develop subtle bronze or purplish tones. When crushed, the foliage releases the characteristic strong scent of Juniperus sabina.

Juniperus sabina ‘Calgary Carpet’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil, thriving in poor, sandy, rocky, and moderately dry soils. It performs well in exposed locations and harsh climates. Once established, it exhibits high drought resistance, moderate pollution resistance, and moderate salt tolerance. It is particularly useful as a groundcover, on slopes, in rock gardens, and for erosion control.
